Cribbage fans around the globe, get ready to heat up the virtual boards! The largest competitive cribbage tournament in the world is kicking off with the Summer 2024 Season of Competitive Cribbage!
The thrilling Spring 2024 cribbage season has drawn to a close, with all the statistics and top performers etched into the record books. The season kicked off with great enthusiasm, and as the warm spring days grew longer, participation levels stabilized at a solid average that keeps growing from season to season. Building on the momentum of the previous active season, it's been fantastic to see so many dedicated players continuing to embrace the competitive format's exhilarating spirit. We had even more players this season than we did the last, which itself broke records.
Adding to all that fun is the recent release of an exciting new game version which introduced the new Daily Cribbage Scrimmage challenges. If you haven't seen that update yet, or haven't tried the daily cribbage challenge there, definitely check it out! It is a great way to compete with your cribbage friends without having to all be online at the same time.
As we transition into the sizzling Summer 2024 season, we're keeping the format consistent for now, with no major shakeups. Although the tweaks made for Spring 2024 did cause some players to wait longer to find a match, I hope that the extra waiting improve the overall experience by creating better matches for everyone on average.
Spring 2024 Wrap Up
Spring 2024 welcomed another influx of new players, many of whom showcased their skills and climbed the Leaderboard throughout the season. It's been a joy, as always, to witness these fresh contenders challenge themselves and their opponents this season! The competition was as intense as ever. Many finished with their positions separated by single digits if not mere fractions, and several shifted positions up until the final hour / minutes of the season (like "PeggyBree" getting bumped from the top 10 and "bigshane0" fighting their way up to 5th). A heartfelt thank you to all who participated, on and off the Leaderboard, for your invaluable contributions. Even if you didn't secure a Top 50 spot, your dedication is truly appreciated. And thank you to those who brought friends along to share in the cribbage excitement – you all made Spring 2024 another one to remember!
Taking the 1st place crown for Spring 2024, and someone we have seen around here before, is "Dhrun"! Congratulations on that hard fought position this season, and a great finishing CR! In 2nd place, we have "Br1Guy", another familiar face and someone who came up 20 positions from last season. And rounding out the top 3 is "lbolt58", who was our top finisher just the season prior. Other notable movements included "dcpastore" jumping up 26 spots to finish 4th, "yvanobc12" climbing 35 places to 7th, and "cyrusg" up 14 spots to land at 22nd!
For our honorable mention this season, I would like to acknowledge a few players who didn't place in the top 50 last season, but are here in the top 10 this season. Those are "808HWK", "DAiello" and "dkatz1877". This season was a blast to watch, and I sincerely hope you all had as much fun as I did! Alongside them, we also saw plenty of familiar names on the list, deserving of a huge round of applause and congratulations for their outstanding performances! Well done to you all!
As usual, we have the special commendation given to those who secured a place within the Top 50. In recognition of your accomplishments, you've earned an in-game "board peg" symbolizing your achievement. The highest-ranking player receives the prestigious "crown" board peg, while all others in the Top 50 receive a distinctive "star" board peg. These pegs are prominently displayed during online multiplayer matches and serve as a permanent badge of distinction. If you see an opponent with one of these pegs, know that they've earned it through their performance in competitive play, securing a spot among the top contenders.

I went 4-1 in the qualifying matches and my CR is 3212. That seems pretty low.
ReplyDeleteThe system hasn't changed at all this season.
DeleteCan we see their total score?
ReplyDeleteAny thoughts on reducing the number of warnings players get per match? 4 per game is excessive. It's no fun when your opponent takes 10 seconds for most of their actions while racking up multiple time violations each game.
ReplyDeleteI don't disagree. I want to rework that timer system still, but I'm swamped right now.
DeleteI think 10 seconds, 3 warnings is fair and challenging. I’d leave it as is but try to fix the bugs that allow the unsportsmanlike players to abuse the system. If you change it, perhaps 15 secs, two warnings?
ReplyDeleteThis game is still broken. Just played a match, first game my opponent disconnects twice, stalls out 4 times, gets a final warning, and then on then exceeds the time limit 3 more times while disconnecting twice. I even took screen shots of those messages after his final warning "Opponent's Time Exceeded - Verifying Status..." This is stupid, maybe take a season off and fix these glitches b/c it's not fun when games drag on because the time limits you put in place don't work.
ReplyDeleteUber, please don’t take this the wrong way, I don’t mean to be disrespectful. You are a good player and challenging opponent. But, for someone who seems so frustrated with the match timing and frequently posts about it, you sure still play a lot. If the competitive match timing system bothers you so much, you could take a season off.
