Another season of Competitive Cribbage is complete, but this is much more than the beginning of another season.
Cribbage Pro Competitive Matchmaking is now officially sanctioned by the American Cribbage Congress, beginning with the Competitive Cribbage 2026-27 Season 1. This marks an exciting new chapter for competitive cribbage, and the official launch of the strategic partnership between Cribbage Pro and the ACC. Players around the world can play cribbage online against real opponents in this free, season long multiplayer cribbage tournament, with no set scheduled match times and ACC membership remains optional.
Cribbage Pro Competitive Matchmaking has grown into the largest cribbage tournament anywhere, bringing together players from around the world in one shared competition. With this first officially sanctioned season, it will also then become the largest ACC sanctioned tournament ever held. Players who take part in this first sanctioned season will be part of a unique moment in competitive cribbage history, helping launch what we hope will become one of the most important and accessible recurring competitions in the game.
This is also a great season to invite a friend, club member, or family member to try Competitive Matchmaking. Every additional player strengthens the competition, expands the range of opponents, and helps grow organized cribbage for everyone.
Everyone is invited to participate. The tournament is free to enter, open to all Cribbage Pro players, and does not require ACC membership. Nothing about joining, competing, or earning Cribbage Pro awards requires ACC membership. However, ACC members get extra benefits with this being an additional opportunity to earn ACC Internet Rating Points through their results in Cribbage Pro when they register their Cribbage Pro username on the ACC website.
Before looking ahead to this historic new season, we first celebrate the players and accomplishments of Summer 2026.
Summer 2026 Results
Summer 2026 is officially in the books. Although it was a shorter transition season, it continued the strong growth of Competitive Matchmaking and provided another exciting finish while giving some new players a chance to experience the format for the first time.
As these tournaments continue to grow, we remain incredibly grateful for every player who competes, shares feedback, and helps make the system better. Every match contributes to a stronger and more active competitive cribbage community.
"Dhrun" earned first place in Summer 2026, returning to the top after also winning last season. Because Dhrun began the shorter season later, there were several points when the full week match requirement temporarily removed them from the official leaderboard until enough matches were completed. That created some visible movement in and out of the top position, particularly during the final day.
"Trott" placed second after climbing a very impressive 165 places from their best last season finish.
"nob4one" rounded out the top three, as a long time Cribbage Pro player and regular top finisher in Competitive Cribbage with a past high placement of 2nd several seasons back.
This season's honorable mention goes to "mfetchCT" for making such a strong showing as a long time Cribbage Pro player, but first time joining in the Competitive Matchmaking seasons.
There was a lot of significant movement throughout the final hours, days and weeks, making the conclusion especially exciting to watch. Because Summer 2026 was a shorter season with fewer required matches than usual, leaderboard positions were also more volatile near the finish, with individual match results having a greater effect on final placement than they typically would during a full length season. It was a fun test of a shorter season, but the experience also reinforced that our usual longer seasons are more likely to produce settled rankings over a larger body of matches.

Special awards for the Top 50 players include in game board pegs: the top player receives the "crown" peg, while others in the Top 50 get the "star" peg. These pegs are prominently displayed in online multiplayer games, serving as permanent badges of distinction earned through competitive play.

A New Era for Competitive Cribbage
Summer 2026 served as the transition into the official start of the strategic partnership between Cribbage Pro and the American Cribbage Congress.
We are extremely grateful to everyone at the ACC and throughout the Cribbage Pro community who worked hard to make this partnership possible.
Beginning with this season, for the sake of clarity and consistency, Cribbage Pro Competitive Matchmaking seasons will use names aligned with the ACC competition year. The first season under this new naming format is "Competitive Cribbage 2026-27 Season 1".
Instead of being decided during a single event at one specific time, each Cribbage Pro season provides an extended test of skill across many matches. Players are paired with similarly skilled opponents through the Competitive Matchmaking rating system, with results developing throughout the full season.
Most importantly, every player competes together.
ACC members and nonmembers share the same matchmaking pool, play under the same rules, and appear on the same Cribbage Pro leaderboard. This shared format is what allows Competitive Matchmaking to remain the largest cribbage tournament anywhere while introducing an additional level of ACC recognition for eligible members.
Reminder: Players must complete at least 10 matches during each week of the season since they start the season, and at least 10 matches multiplied by the number of full weeks in the season to be on the Leaderboard. Although future seasons will begin and end on different days of the week than past seasons, partial weeks at the beginning or end of a season still do not require the 10 match minimum.
Earning ACC Internet Rating Points
Eligible ACC members who register their Cribbage Pro username through the ACC website, complete the season, and finish within the top 25 percent of all Competitive Matchmaking participants may earn ACC Internet Rating Points.
Awards are based on each eligible ACC member's placement relative to the entire Cribbage Pro leaderboard.

Fixed placement awards are applied first. Any remaining eligible ACC members then receive the highest applicable percentile award based on their final position within the complete Cribbage Pro leaderboard. Awards are not cumulative.
The first requirement is therefore to complete the season within the top 25 percent of all participants. The eligible ACC finishers may then receive the fixed awards, while other eligible members receive the applicable percentile award.
Beginning with Competitive Cribbage 2026-27 Season 1, completing the five required placement matches will be considered joining the tournament and will count as 10 ACC online tournaments toward the ACC annual online tournament participation quota. This gives players the opportunity to begin competing and experience the season before deciding how extensively they would like to participate.

Every player remains part of the same tournament and the same Competitive Matchmaking community.
A larger shared player pool benefits everyone through more available opponents, more active seasons, stronger competition, and the potential for faster matchmaking. Whether or not you are an ACC member, participating helps make competitive cribbage better for the entire community.
ACC membership can also connect players with local cribbage clubs, weekly Grass Roots play, live tournaments, and the broader organized cribbage community. We encourage interested players to learn more about the ACC organization and decide whether those additional opportunities are right for them.
